Breakout Description:

Allie Carroll – Program Supervisor, and Rachael Wallace – Program Coordinator, for the Healthy Relationships, Sexuality, and Autism Program with Autism Nova Scotia will be speaking on Sexual Readiness. Some topics may include what is considered having sex, why people have sex, things to consider before having sex, consent, understanding appropriate touch for your body, sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, attraction & sexual orientation. These are important topics to have awareness of when supporting clients through navigating healthy relationships and sexuality.
Allie has over 9 years of combined professional and volunteer experience with Autism Nova Scotia. Her expertise extends to presenting at notable conferences like NSCDA. Allie is deeply committed to advocating for a healthy life, relationships and promoting sexuality education for autistic youth and adults. This passion has been a constant in her life and was further fueled during her honors degree in psychology at Saint Mary’s University when she engaged in multiple classes focusing on healthy lifestyles, sexuality and gender identity. She eagerly anticipates the upcoming conference as an opportunity to share her knowledge and insights.
